American Happily Living In Cebu
Cebu Philippines is where I have been living for the last four years. Soon, I will mark my fourth anniversary in the Philippines. I didn’t know what the future would hold but I came with an open but skeptical mind. After four years, I am comfortable living in the Philippines It shine from being new has long ago diminished but I am still happy to live in the Philippines.
By moving to the Philippines, I have expanded my choices in life. There are primarily two reasons for that. Living in the Philippines cost much less than it does in the USA. The other is in my state the choices in my romantic life looked gloomy. Forty-nine years old, overweight and not in the best of health. Also, in the USA I barely have enough cash to survive. Having the cash to date would be hard to come by.
In the Philippines, I’m not rich by American standards but the average Filipino would think I’m rich. With my cost of living greatly reduced I am able to travel more. Also, the costs of traveling in the Philippines are substantially less than travel in the USA. A hotel usually cost me less than $30 a night. The last time I flew to another location in the Philippines the price of my round-trip ticket was about $75.00. Sometimes you can get them for even less as Cebu Pacific often offers tickets for as little as $1.00 and sometimes they were even free! However, you will still have to pay surcharges and taxes.
I have a pretty Filipina as my girlfriend. When I put boots on the ground she was 29 years old and we are still together. I feel a little guilty about how well she treats me. For example, next week she will be riding a bus for six hours to run errands for me. She often puts her own best interest behind my own needs. I have to be careful not to take advantage of her. My chance of finding a romantic interest in the USA equal to this are null.
Bantayan Island is the place I like to visit the most. In fact, it is my favorite place in the world. It is only about 2 hours from my home. If you visit there you will find powered white sane beaches with the clearest water you’ve even seen. During most parts of the year, there are very few tourist at Bantayan Island. However, during Holy Week that changes and you will find the beaches and resorts crowded
Palawan is also a grand place to visit. I went there last July and visited the Underground River. The river enters a cave under a mountain and is the longest such river in the world. It is now one of the New Seven Wonders of The World. I also visited Estrella Falls and we had lunch there. While eating, instead of squirrels playing in the trees, we had monkeys trying to steal our food. The monkeys were a hoot and were very unfriendly when I tried to hand feed them. I have a monkey at home that was a rescue. She would have loved my offering.
