Chicago proposes beer carts at O’Hare and Midway
O'Hare and Midway may use beer carts
Thirsty patrons at Chicago airports could soon be in a haven of convenience. Mayor Richard Daly is pushing for beer carts to stroll post-security areas offering beer and wine to travelers.
The move comes in part so that O’Hare and Midway find a new way to generate more non-aviation-related revenue.
In conjunction with the carts, Daly would also like to extend time restraints for restaurants in the airport that stop serving at 10 or 11. He would ideally like them to sell hard liquor 24 hours a day in order to “provide the highest level of customer service” for travelers.
If implemented, there will be six carts at O’Hare and an uncertain amount at Midway. No bottled beverages or packaged goods will be sold.
