Great Egypt Holidays in Sharm El Sheikh hotels
Some of the worlds best diving spots can be found in Sharm el Sheikh. The exotic under sea life captivates all who visit the area. The corals come to within 1 meter from the surface and then continue down into the depths.
People often prefer luxury holidays in Egypt for many other reasons that just diving, for example, Nile cruises are a popular choice.
There are fish all over the reef that can be seen from the surface as well as from a dive. To compliment your diving or snorkeling holiday, choose Sharm el Sheikh holidays that are of a high standard and reasonably priced.
The diving is from the Straits of Tiran in the North to Ras Mohamed in the South. There are regular trips into the Gulf of Suez to visit the wrecks of Dunraven, Thistlegorm and the area of Abu Nuas.
Here is a list of guidelines to follow when diving in Egypt:
- Always do a pre-dive check with your companion
- Limit your depth to your level of training or experience. Generally there is a 30m limit
- Make sure that you avoid touching the reef to prevent damage, and also to avoid personal injury
- At 5m complete a 3 minute safety stop. Do this close to the reef or on the mooring line.
- Whilst you are performing the safety stop, do also a buoyance check. If there is still air in the BC at 5m after the dive, remove a kilo of lead from your diving belt.
- When you come up from the dive, make sure that it is close to the reef or the mooring line. Avoid the ascent in open blue water as there is a danger from the boats.
- Swim back to the boat on the surface, and not a couple of meters under. If you are underwater the skippers cannot see you, and you may risk a bad injury if you connect with a propeller.
- When you are back onboard, login with the Dive Master using the standard log-sheet.
