Long-Haul Flight? Now You Can Play On A Sony PSP To While Away The Hours
For most travellers, the idea of a long-haul flight doesnt exactly inspire jumping for joy. The thought of sitting, bored, through hours and hours of tedious non-activity is sometimes enough to make one re-think the idea of going to some far-flung place for a holiday. Lets face it, reading is not exactly exciting at the best of times, and not everyone wants to sit through two hours of the latest drivel from Hollywood on the big screen.
If you feel the same, youll be happy to know that a Cheshire-based company has come up with a possible solution to in-flight tedium.
According to Crains Manchester Business newspaper, in-flight entertainment provider IFE Services recently struck a deal with Sony Computer Entertainment America to distribute the popular Sony PSP game console to airlines.
Passengers can use the PlayStation Portable to watch movies and television programmes, not to mention play video games like old favourite Tekken, all the way up to the soon-to-be-released Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
IFE has secured agreements with six airlines to date, with ongoing negotiations happening with several more. An IFE spokesperson said:
Were delighted to be able to bring the PSP system to the airline industry. As a veteran provider of in-flight entertainment, we know that many airline passengers are interested in playing full-scale games with impressive graphics, which the PSP delivers. With up to 11 hours of battery life and full aircraft certification, our view is that this has been long-awaited by the airline industry and the passengers they fly.
There are surely thousands upon thousands of air travellers who would wholeheartedly agree. So next time youre booking a flight for a holiday or business trip, ask if the airline makes PSPs available to passengers – the time will literally fly by!
