Vacation Wonderland – Heana Beach Kauai

Haena Beach Park is one among the prominent north shore attractions of Kauai. The popularity of the beach is evident from the number of tourists visiting the beach every year. The presence of Mount Makana directly behind the beach is the major factor contributing to the magnificent look of the beach. This is the major reason why the view comprises of creepers and other beautiful plants clinging to the sides. The exotic northern pacific also makes it a great place for vacations.

The most popular beach activities of Haena beach are picnicking and camping. Although the drop off and the massive undertow make this beach a little treacherous. The presence of active lifeguards in the beach makes the conditions much safer. Another reason for people indulging in water sports in the beach is the presence of tunnels beach offering calmer waters nearby. This is one of the best places for snorkeling.

Heavy ocean swells make this a dangerous beach in the winter. Because of this the guards sometimes have to close down the beaches. Its considered as a great scene by the tourists but getting in the water during the swells is not at all recommended.

Maniniholo Dry Cave is also among the factors adding to the popularity of the destination. This is located in the foot of Mount Makana. Waikanaloa Wet Cave, the counterpart of Maniniholo is also near the beach. Waikanaloa Wet Cave is quite famoys for the presence of a large and still water pool.

Both these caves were thought to be dug by the Menehune, or people of Kauai. The fable states that Maniniholo, the chief fisherman of menehune ordered these caves in the search of Akua, a fish-stealing creature. Waikokanaloa wet cave is very close to the Kee Bach, another popular destination of Kauai.

It is not among the flattest terrains and this makes the journey a little slow. Limahuli National Tropical Garden is another popular destination for tourists. It is located in between the Haena beach and Waikokanaloa wet cave.

The garden is a treasury of some of the greatest plants that are native to Hawaii. The garden is built in terraces. The view from the top of the Limahuli is exotic with a panorama of the Makana Mountain. The beach is of great importance in the tourist map of the country. However, getting to the locations is easy through Hanalei. On your way, you can also witness the famous one-lane bridges of Hanalei.
